Writing Across Communities Hosts Symposium

April 17, 2012

In partnership with a number of very generous sponsors, Writing Across Communities at UNM is thrilled to host the Writing the World Symposium, a free public event held April 19-20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) Ballroom A. The symposium brings together community members, students and faculty in conversations about a wide range of issues in literacy, ecology, and social justice today, including ethnic studies in Tucson, linguistic diversity in higher education and health care, immigration reform, mental health, and climate change.

Symposium events include featured speakers, discussion panels, and the following two luncheon keynotes:

  • Thursday, April 19: Renowned ecopsychologist Dr. Allen D. Kanner;
  • Friday, April 20: Internationally acclaimed second-language expert Paul D. Matsuda.
